Where are the two witnesses that stood with me on that cold winter dawn and in awe and admiration cast our eyes toward the moon in all its glory just before the rising sun overtook it? Where are they?
Where are my two witnesses, my olive trees? The two who stood with me before God?
I need you.

Father God, Creator of all things
Let me be that first light of dawn for those trapped in darkness.
The first light of dawn that awakens and stirs.
The first light of dawn that evokes all of our senses.
How I long to return to the deep woods
at the first light of dawn.
To see it, hear it, taste it, smell it, feel it.
The simultaneous coming of light and going of darkness.
I want to be that first light of dawn
that breaks open the eastern sky
and overcomes the darkness.
The first light of dawn that stirs life and
awakens the soul of all living things.
The first light of dawn.
Like the voice crying out from the wilderness,
saying that time has come, prepare ye the way!
The first light of dawn that tells darkness
it is time to go.
The first light of dawn that tells the fog
it is time to lift.
The first light of dawn that stirs the wind
to gently rustle the leaves and grasses.
The first light of dawn that awakens
life from its slumber and proclaims
"Arise, oh sleeper".

Oh that we might know the Lord,
let us press forward with prayer
that we might savor in His presence forever.
Like the rains that fall high in the mountains
may His presence wash down upon us
and lift us like the mist that rises after the rain.
Take me to the foot of Your Holy Mountain
so that I might lift my eyes to the summit
and fully know that You are God.
Take me to the foot of Your Holy Mountain
where Jesus awaits with extended hand
to lead me to the summit where You abide,
where Your very essence will engulf me completely.

Our Demons
We all have our demons
our thorns in our sides
but that doesn't make us
any less
effective.
We are all vessels
each made by the Potter's hand
for a distinct purpose.
Where would our
salvation come from
had there not lived
a man named Judas?
How can Light enter into Darkness
if it does not first disguise itself?
How can one know Good
if they have never known Evil?
It is written, in order for Him
to ascend, He first had
to descend.
Judge not, lest ye be judged
Hallelujah,
because sometimes
I just don't know.

Agony
It is agony
knowing those things
which I cannot speak of
It tears me apart
on the inside
And although I may
never again be allowed
to enjoy the things
of this world
I realize that the things
of this world
are merely temporal
and fade quickly
like the flower in bloom
And it saddens me
to know
I may never
hold that flower
in my hands
again

In the not so long ago
In the not so long ago
exiled from all that
sustained and encouraged
thrown into a dungeon
of negativity
in hopes of
breaking
crushing
and defeating
but
it didn't happen
and however dismantled
I may be
I still have all the pieces
and I don't know why
I think you would care
but
I do.

The Ashes of Time
The song
The sound
The sand
The Ashes of Time
The wind ever blowing
Forming
Reforming
The sand
The ocean
Crashes
The cliffs
The shore
The sand
Forming
Reforming
The Ashes of Time
Forever returning to whence it began
The song
The sound
The sand
The Ashes of Time
Who will be chosen?
What soul formed by the Creators hand will stand witness to the Grand Finale?
The last to hear
The song
The sound
The last to see
The sand
The Ashes of Time
The wind ever blowing
The ocean crashes.

When we fought the enemy instead of ourselves ...
Excerpts from the Declaration of Conscience
by Senator Margaret Chase Smith
delivered 1 June 1950
Mr. President:
I would like to speak briefly and simply about a serious national condition. It is a national feeling of fear and frustration that could result in national suicide and the end of everything that we Americans hold dear ... The United States Senate has long enjoyed worldwide respect as the greatest deliberative body in the world. But recently that deliberative character has too often been debased to the level of a forum of hate and character assassination sheltered by the shield of congressional immunity ... I think that it is high time for the United States Senate and its members to do some soul-searching -- for us to weigh our consciences -- on the manner in which we are performing our duty to the people of America -- on the manner in which we are using or abusing our individual powers and privileges.
I think that it is high time that we remembered that we have sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution. I think that it is high time that we remembered that the Constitution, as amended, speaks not only of the freedom of speech but also of trial by jury instead of trial by accusation.
Whether it be a criminal prosecution in court or a character prosecution in the Senate, there is little practical distinction when the life of a person has been ruined.
Those of us who shout the loudest about Americanism in making character assassinations are all too frequently those who, by our own words and acts, ignore some of the basic principles of Americanism:
The right to criticize;
The right to hold unpopular beliefs;
The right to protest;
The right of independent thought.
The exercise of these rights should not cost one single American citizen his reputation or his right to a livelihood nor should he be in danger of losing his reputation or livelihood merely because he happens to know someone who holds unpopular beliefs. Who of us doesn’t? Otherwise none of us could call our souls our own. Otherwise thought control would have set in.
The American people are sick and tired of being afraid to speak their minds lest they be politically smeared as "Communists" or "Fascists" by their opponents. Freedom of speech is not what it used to be in America. It has been so abused by some that it is not exercised by others. ... Today our country is being psychologically divided by the confusion and the suspicions that are bred in the United States Senate to spread like cancerous tentacles of "know nothing, suspect everything" attitudes. Today we have a Democratic Administration that has developed a mania for loose spending and loose programs. History is repeating itself -- ...
As an American, I condemn a Republican "Fascist" just as much I condemn a Democratic "Communist." I condemn a Democrat "Fascist" just as much as I condemn a Republican "Communist." They are equally dangerous to you and me and to our country.
As an American, I want to see our nation recapture the strength and unity it once had when we fought the enemy instead of ourselves.

I have come to a realization that an internal battle rages constantly within me. It is not one of "good vs. evil" or "self vs. selflessness", but should I or should I not give a rats ass.
And this battle draws me into ever deepening questions, such as ... What exactly does it mean to "give a rats ass"? or, If I did "give a rats ass", who would I give the rats ass to? and on and on................
